Hiatus Kaiyote kündigen neues Album an

Hiatus Kaiyote sind gefragt unter den Musiker*innen

Auftritte auf dem Glastonbury Festival, dem Roots Picnic und ein ausverkauftes Sidney-Opernhaus. Mehrere Artists sampelten die Band in ihren Songs wie The Carters (also Beyoncé und Jay-Z), Anderson .Paak, Kendrick Lamar und Drake. Mit Letzterem hatte Gitarristin und Vokalistin Naomi "Nai Palm" Saalfield schon für sein Album Scorpion kollaboriert. Auch privat ist viel passiert bei den Bandmitgliedern. Jetzt kündigen Hiatus Kaiyote ihr nächstes Album mit dem Titel Mood Valiant an.

Frontfrau Nai Palm wurde 2018 während einer kurzen USA Tour mit Brustkrebs diagnostiziert. Zum Glück konnte sie sich relativ schnell einer Mastektomie - also Brustentfernung - unterziehen, die sehr gut verlief.

Sonne tanken mit Arthur Verocai

Dieser Mood Valiant, was vielleicht übersetzbar ist mit "tapferer Grundmodus", ist auch zu hören in der ersten Single "Get Sun", ein Feature mit Arthur Verocai. Der 76-jährige ist Produzent, Dirigent und Sänger im Bereich Bossa Nova. Die Band hatte den Song bereits aufgenommen und Verocai überlassen, als er der Band seine Version zeigte, musste Paul Bender anfangen vor Freude zu weinen.

Beflügelt von der neuen Energie von "Get Sun" komponierte die Band gleich am selben Abend noch die beiden Titel "Stone or Lavender", eine Ballade, und den groovigeren Song "Red Room".

Das Album erscheint in vollem Umfang am 25. Juni beim Label Brainfeeder. "Get Sun" gibt's auch bei bei uns im egoFM Soundcheck auf die Ohren - außerdem mit dabei: Gengahr, Bilderbuch, Lana Del Rey und Crooked Colours.
